Honduras and Her IslandsIt's strange, how quickly things change. A few years ago, I wrote this about Honduras islands:"Honduras, one of the larger Central American nations, is an interesting option for many island-lovers. Due to its fairly unstable political climate, Honduras is able to offer prices far lower than those elsewhere in the Caribbean. For many, the very shakiness of the government is what puts ownership of an island within reach. Furthermore, the islands of Honduras, most of which are located in the Bay of Roatan, offer everything an island should: beaches, sun, great snorkeling and marine life, and a very laid-back atmosphere." Well, Honduras isn't so cheap anymore, and there's not that much on the market. So while we're waiting to see what turns up in the Bay of Islands, I'll put up some islands from other Central American nations here.

Moho Cay, Belize
Belize is an interesting option for several reasons: the diving is spectacular, the country (as a former British colony) is pretty stable and they speak English there, and of course the climate is beautiful. Moho Cay is drastically over-priced in my opinion at 1.9 million for 12 acres, but it is beautiful. It's fairly low-lying, and I'd check on the bug situation before making any decisions. Another Belize Island
I haven't found out much about this island--I leave it up to you--but it looks beautiful and somewhat correctly high-priced. More information here.
Beautiful, Inexpensive Panama Island
There is actually a fairly large listing of Panamanian islands at this page--all less than $300,000, all in Bocas del Toro. This island stuck out as particularly beautiful, but none of the cays have good beaches and insects seem like a real threat. Not actually in open ocean, either. The pictured island is $125,000, though, which in my opinion makes it a bargain regardless. More information here.
Coco Cay, Belize
Here's something a little less expensive (compare it with the first island!) in Belize: 5 acres for 350,000. More Information Here
