Motukawaiti Island
I sincerely believe that this is one of the most beautiful islands that I have yet encountered. Really, no one can argue that New Zealand doesn't have great landscapes. It's their food that I'm worried about... Anyway, Motukawaiti Island is just off the Northland coast in the Cavalli Islands Group 20kms north of the Bay of Islands. Near lots of good fishing (you're in the middle of the ocean, for crying out loud!) If you have a helicopter, there is easy access to three golf courses nearby. The island comes with a mooring off the beach while you're in residence and a marina where you can keep your ship in nearby Whangaroa Harbour if you're away. Oh yeah, and there's also an awesome house.
USD$2.55 million
Guess what, folks? This here island is sold. In any case, I plan to leave it up, just so y'all can gawk at it.
Wadiji Island, Fji
This island is in Fiji, not New Zealand, but they're both pretty close together, right? Anyway, this Fijian island offers a beatiful island home, which is touted by the sellers as a "resort" but which is in reality only house-sized. There are, however, many amenities, including watersports, a beautiful sandy beach, and a beach bar. When I was in Fiji, I found the islands to be surpassingly beautiful, but snake-o-phobes beware! There are sea snakes, which are generally harmless, but if you stuck you finger in their mouth, they have some pretty lethal venom. Also, there have been recent uprisings of native Fijians against the more populous ethnic Indians, so the political scene continues to be tense. This island is going for somewhere in the vicinity of USD$ 3 mil.
Pohuenui, an Island Paradise
A whopping 5,000 acre island farm hidden among a constellation of wildlife sanctuaries, Pohuenui also offers access to the outside world, via a twenty minute flight from Wellington, New Zealand's capital city. The sheep ranch is still running, providing an excellent opportunity for tourism (although all islands generally have that). Get this: there are about 35 MILES of coastline, with soaring peaks and sandy bays. There is also a professional staff, for those of you out there with no ranching experience (read: every one of you city slickers who has enough money to buy the island)which will help you manage and run the island. Pohuenui is located in the Marlborough Sounds. For more information on these offers, please go to Bayley Realty's Web Site.
